There are numerous websites available to homeschoolers today as homeschooling tends to grow in popularity for many different reasons.  We cannot possibly provide every single resource out there; however, below are the top websites Holy Family Institute recommends for curriculum and additional resources available to provide a Catholic home-based education.

 

Core Curriculum

Alpha Omega Publications

Alpha Omega offers a few different types of curriculum to choose from.  They provide options which included print-based, computer-based, and online homeschooling curriculum formats. Alpha Omega Publications is Christian based however, AOP is Catholic friendly.

Catholic Heritage Curricula

Catholic Heritage Curricula offers materials and lesson plans for grades Kindergarten through Eighth grades. CHC offers resources only for high school students.  Their materials can be purchased as a complete kit according to the grade level or you may purchase their materials individually by book.  The lesson plans that CHC offers may be purchased separately as well.    Catholic Heritage Curricula’s materials are customized to provide a solid Catholic education.

Cathy Duffy Reviews

Cathy Duffy, author of two-volume Christian Home Educators’ Curriculum Manual for Elementary, Junior, and Senior High Grades, is a curriculum specialist who has researched curriculum and methodology for all subjects and all grade levels. This website provides reviews on several curricula in addition to providing her 100 Top Picks for Homeschool Curriculum.  This website is very helpful and informational.

Christianbook.com

Christianbook.com offers an extensive selection of homeschooling curricula. This is a great place to purchase many books for one shipping cost.  Many of the books which we recommend for all grade levels and subjects can be found here.

Kolbe Academy

Kolbe Academy’s material provide a Catholic classical curriculum.  You may purchase materials in several ways.   They offer full enrollment which includes lesson plans and grading.  They also allow you to enroll in single courses as well as online courses.  Kolbe Academy also provides an online bookstore to purchase books individually.

Mother of Divine Grace

Mother of Divine Grace was established to allow parents to provide a Catholic classical approach to home-based education.  They offer several types of programs based on the level of support and structure that is needed by each individual family.  MODG also offers an online book store in order to purchase books individually.

Our Lady of the Rosary

Our Lady of the Rosary School is an international Catholic homeschool organization offer complete curriculum programs for students beginning in pre-kindergarten through the twelfth grade.  Their programs include lesson plans as well as grading.  In order to receive curricula from Our Lady of the Rosary, you must join their full program.

Our Lady of Victory

Our Lady of Victory School was established in 1977 and is the oldest Catholic home school program in the country.  They offer a few different services which include full enrollment, independent study, and single course enrollment.  OLVS also offers their materials for sale through their bookstore.

Seton Home Study School

Seton Home Study School strives to provide a Christ-centered, academically strong home-based program designed for Catholic homeschooling families.  Seton provides services which include full enrollment for all grade levels, online courses for high school grades or you may purchase their materials through their bookstore.  Seton also provides testing resources.

Supplemental Learning

Funbrain

Interactive learning games (age/level based) for math, sciences, and language arts. Most games can be automatically adjusted for difficulty and favorite extras include periodic table and constellations.

 

Discovery Education

Offers great resources for teachers and students with interactive media, visuals, and videos that help explain complex subjects such as science and math. There’s also a section dedicated to “homework help”.

Encyclopedia Britannica

A comprehensive online resource with galleries, quizzes, news, and other topics. Provides both free and subscription based content.

The Home School Legal Defense Association is a United States-based “nonprofit advocacy organization established to defend and advance the constitutional right of parents to direct the education of their children and to protect family freedoms.”

The Children’s Partnership

General information on current child-related topics including the use of technology. Some information is available in multiple languages. Also contains a parent’s guide that is very helpful and informative.

Great Homeschool Conventions

Brings great speakers and workshops for all homeschool families in several locations including: Texas, South Carolina, Ohio, and California.

National Catholic Homeschool Conference

This conference provides access to inspiring Catholic homeschool veterans, encouraging priests, insightful Catholic speakers.  They also offer a large collection of Catholic homeschool curricula and materials provided by vendors in addition to having a college fair in the vendor hall.

Southern California Catholic Home Educators Conference

This conference occurs during the summer at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. It’s a great place to meet other homeschool minded parents, participate in workshops, and visit with vendors.
